Position Summary:
The Environmental Health & Safety Manager is responsible for developing,
implementing, and overseeing plant safety, environmental programs, and developing a
strong 5S culture. This role ensures compliance with local, state, and federal
regulations, focuses on minimizing environmental impacts, and promotes a safe working
environment for all employees. The EHS Manager plays a key role in identifying
hazards, implementing corrective actions, and ensuring the plant’s operations meet
safety standards while minimizing environmental risks. This is a working managerial role
with expectations for involvement in day-to-day activities related to the role, presence
on the production floor. This position will require occasional nights and weekends to
engage with all shifts as well as the ability to travel as needed.
Essential Accountabilities:
 Oversee compliance and manage OSHA, EPA, and other federal, state, and local
environmental and safety regulations to include ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 and
continued certification.
 Stay updated on relevant legislation and ensure the plant adheres to applicable
health, safety, and environmental laws.
 Create and maintain safety policies and procedures for the plant, focusing on
accident prevention and risk reduction.
 Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify
potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
 Conduct training sessions for employees on safety practices, emergency
response procedures, and environmental policies to include onboarding
orientations.
 Foster a culture of safety by engaging employees in safety programs and
encouraging proactive reporting of potential hazards, providing interventions, and
developing sustainable solutions.
 Lead the investigation of workplace accidents and near-misses and implement
corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
 Manage and maintain accurate records of incidents, injuries, and environmental
compliance activities, reporting to relevant authorities as required within
established timelines.
 Develop and implement strategies to minimize waste, emissions, and resource
consumption in alignment with sustainability goals.
 Lead & champion the 5S initiative across assigned locations; educate & train
employees on the principles and benefits, conduct regular audits, and host 5S
events.
 Monitor and ensure proper waste disposal and recycling practices in accordance
with environmental regulations.
 Lead the development and execution of emergency response plans, including fire
safety, spill response, and evacuation procedures.

 Ensure plant personnel are properly trained in emergency protocols and conduct
drills as necessary and document per regulation standards.
 Analyze EHS performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and
implement corrective and preventive actions.
 Collaborate with management to integrate EHS & 5S goals into overall plant
operations and manufacturing processes.
 Perform other duties as assigned.
 The role will support both NJ and NC location.
 
Required Skills/Abilities:
 Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
 Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential
situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy and work with individuals at
all levels of the organization.
 Excellent time management and organizational skills with a heightened attention
to detail.
 Strong analytical skills and problem solving/conflict resolutions skills.
 Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to include excel &
powerpoint,
 Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
 
Education and Experience:
 Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety,
Industrial Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field. A Master’s degree in
Environmental Science or a related field may be a plus.
 Certification in safety or environmental management, such as Certified Safety
Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Associate in Risk
Management (ARM) is highly preferred.
 Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in environmental health and safety
management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
 Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, EPA guidelines, and other local, state,
and federal safety and environmental regulations.
 Proven experience in developing and implementing safety and environmental
programs in a pharmaceutical, chemical, or similar regulated industry.
 Hands-on experience with safety audits, hazard assessments, incident
investigations, and root cause analysis.
 Experience with environmental sustainability initiatives, including waste
management, energy efficiency, and reducing plant emissions.
 Knowledge of industrial hygiene practices and risk management strategies.
 Experience in emergency response planning and management, including spill
containment and fire safety.
 Familiarity with safety management systems, data tracking, and reporting tools
(e.g., OSHA logs, incident reporting systems).
 Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with
employees at all levels and foster a culture of safety
